Since 2014, I have been targeting to set up my Word for the Year and to keep to it… I had selected “Forward” in 2014 and “Keep Up” in 2015. Due to “unforeseen circumstances”, it’s a good way to find an excuse, I had to skip the 2016 one.
But in those early days of 2017, after having listed a few words, I decided that
“Strength”
will be the one.
If you have a look in a dictionary, you will find out that the word has a lot of meanings, which can be interpreted the way you feel it. As far as I am concerned, I really reacted to my word, with an open mind and weighing the pros and cons.
How do I feel about my word “Strength”, let me extract the main points of my approach and let you know how I will be applying my 2017 eight letters word, (not listed necessarily in order of priority):
- Maintain my intellectual position firmly
- Physical energy
- Distinguish the essential of events
- Be effective in actions and decisions
- Be and think positive (this I will have to work a bit on it, but I will overcome)
- and, the last but not the least, take advantage of my “change of decade” in July…
it’s a non exhaustive list as you can imagine, but I will gather my “strength” to be my source of power to reach my goal…
And you, do you have a word for 2017?
“You can always take the easy way out and give up, but real STRENGTH comes, when you decide to keep pushing forward, no matter what the circumstances are!”
Strength is a good word. All the best for 2017
I have to keep to it! Best wishes Alex and thanks for stopping by…
It’s a fantastic word !
I wish you a very strength year !
Thank you my Friend :), nice of you…
Beautiful quote to end your strong post dear Louise.
STRENGTH is a wonderful word so full of possibilities.
May 2017 be your best year yet.
oxo
p.s. I am recycling a word I have used before: SIMPLIFY which challenges me greatly
Time has come where I need “my word” to carry on along my path… “Simplify” is a “peaceful” word, this is my wish for you, dear Patty… oxo
i enjoyed read about this. i like the definitions nice word happy 2017 christine
Thanks for stopping by, Christine. I have 363 days to reach my target :)… Best wishes to you!
Great word Louise and I wish you an abundance!
That line from Finding Nemo often comes to mind, “Just keep swimming”. And for me that is sort of the same thought. To just persevere and keep trying. WOW, don’t like this definition though…continue in a course of action even in the face of difficulty or with little or no prospect of success. I believe there is a chance of success 😉 Certainly have to hope so! Joyful 2017 to you my Strong friend!!
When there is a will, there is a way… May be sometimes words are easier to express than actions, but with a few drops of will, success can be reached. We have to be positive… Even if this is not too easy for me… I have to ride along that path… Thank you, Sheila for stopping by my word 😊
Not always easy for me either Louise ;/ Thank you Louise for a lovely post. Enjoy!
Glad you liked my blogpost…
great word and a perfect image
Now, I have to meet my goal… Thanks for stopping by, Daryl.
‘Be effective in actions and decisions’
My word would be president-trump-twitter. LOL
🙂
Choosing a focus word is so much better than a New Year’s resolution. I love your word, Louise, and will borrow it from time to time. For 2017, mine will be PARTICIPATE. In life, in the world around me (including the upcoming political one by learning more, being an active responder, and speaking out), and in life! Your strength and independence truly inspire me. Have a wonderfully strong 2017, my friend.
You are most welcomed to borrow my “Strength” Lynne, you know I love sharing, specially with dear friends… I will do my best to stick to my word for 2017… and reach my target.
Happy New year, thanks for the cute card!
great words, thank you so much Louise for good sharing
Happy new year
Kisses back to you
Thank you Anita, I do appreciate. Have a serene 2017, xoxo
I think this might be my word too. Thanks for the inspiration!
Good to know I started 2017 as an inspiration… You are lucky, there’s no fee about that up to today… How’s that? Take care, Sean…
Interesting choice, I have never tried picking out a word for the year.
Have a try…
bisous
Bon week-end, Anita… Bisous!
Excellent choice! My word for 2017 is “Passion”. I want to let go of doing things just because I’m supposed to, but instead encouraging passion. Both my own, and the passion that I see in my students, and friends. With that passion increase joy, and happiness.
That’s a good target… I wish you all the best to reach it…
Thank you so much my friend!
Great word! Strength comes from within, a deep and infinite wellspring that one only needs to learn how to tap. Therein lies the challenge. 🙂 Best wishes to you, Louise!
Wow Louise well you got me thinking… by the way I love the word strength. Mine would be perseverance. Not giving up no matter what comes. Let perseverance complete her perfect work in you. I like that thought! 🙂 Happy 2017
Perseverance is a word made of will and strength… We are on the same line, Michelle Marie…
And also being tenaciously relentless I feel these things produce something beautiful. I really love your post. Happy day to you Louise 💕

Great word and image! Strength is a good word. My OLW is a bit more basic this year, but challenging. “Love.” 😬
Beautiful strength, well done Louise.
Thank you Bob, best wishes…
Great choice of word Louise, It’s good to live with a very optimistic word that will keep you on track. Mine would be “Up”, feeling stuck for the past years, need to move to that direction. All the best for us this year 2017!
“Up”… “Up”… “Up…, Iriz, this is my wish for you for 2017, may it be serene too…
Thank you! 🙂
A great choice for a word!
One with so many possibilities.
Happy day to you!
Have a serene week, Lisa…
